Accessibility Statement

UnitWorks wants this site to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using a screen reader, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, or who prefer reduced motion. We treat accessibility as an ongoing practice rather than a box to check once, and we welcome being told where we've fallen short.

Our standard

We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard referenced by Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), as a practical target for a site of this size — not as a claim that every page fully meets it today.

What we've built in

• Semantic HTML and ARIA roles on interactive components — the process timeline, dropdown menus, and expandable FAQ sections all expose their state to assistive technology.
• Full keyboard operability: every link, button, form field and tab is reachable and operable without a mouse, with a visible focus ring on keyboard focus.
• A skip-to-content link at the top of every page.
• Descriptive alt text on photography, rather than filenames or blank attributes.
• Respect for your operating system's reduced-motion setting — animations and auto-advancing content are minimized or disabled when you've asked your device for that.
• Colour and contrast chosen to remain legible against both the cream and dark sections of the site.

Known limitations

A few things sit outside our direct control or are still being improved: the embedded service-area map and some third-party analytics or video embeds may not fully match the standard above, and older project photography added before this policy may have thinner alt text than newer additions. We revisit these as we find them.
