Privacy Policy

UnitWorks ("we", "us", "our") designs and builds renovations across Toronto, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Whitby, Ajax and communities in between. This page explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what choices you have about it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than the shortest legally defensible version.

Information you give us directly

When you use the contact form, we collect whatever you enter: your name, phone number, email address, property type, ideal start date, building or neighbourhood, and the project details you write in the message field. None of these fields are required to load the form — only to submit it.

When you use the bathroom estimator, your style and material choices are saved as a "spec" so we can generate your price range and, if you unlock it, a PDF. Unlocking the full spec — brands, model numbers and the PDF by email — asks for your email address and phone number. You can see and adjust the full range without giving us either.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we use analytics tools to understand how the site is used and where it can be improved:

• Google Analytics 4 — page views, referring site, approximate location, device and browser type.
• Microsoft Clarity — anonymized session recordings and heatmaps showing how visitors scroll and click, so we can see where a page is confusing.

Both set cookies or use similar browser storage to recognize repeat visits. Neither is configured to identify you by name unless you separately give us your details through a form. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser at any time; the site works without them, though we won't know you were here.

How we use your information

• To reply to your enquiry and, where you have asked for one, prepare a walkthrough or a written estimate.
• To generate and email the PDF spec sheet you requested from the estimator.
• To understand which pages and tools are useful, and which are not, so we can improve the site.
• To meet our own accounting, insurance and legal record-keeping obligations once a project is underway.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone. We do not use it for advertising outside our own site.

Who we share it with

We rely on a small number of service providers to run the site and the business behind it, and your information passes through them only as needed to do that job:

• Netlify — hosts the site and receives contact-form submissions.
• Neon — hosts the database that stores estimator specs and leads.
• Resend — delivers the transactional emails we send you (your PDF spec, our reply to your enquiry).
• Google and Microsoft — provide the analytics tools described above.

Each handles data under its own privacy policy; we chose providers that are established, reputable and used by businesses of a similar size to ours. We do not share your information with any party for their own marketing purposes.

We may also disclose information where required by law — for example, in response to a valid court order — or to protect our rights, our clients or the public.

How long we keep it

Contact-form enquiries and estimator leads are kept for as long as reasonably useful for following up and for our business records, and are periodically reviewed and removed once they no longer serve either purpose. Records tied to a completed project are kept longer, in line with standard accounting and warranty practice. You can ask us to delete your information sooner — see "Your choices" below.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you;
• correct information that is inaccurate or out of date;
• delete your information, unless we are required to keep it for legal or accounting reasons;
• stop receiving any non-essential email from us.

Send that request to hello@theunitworks.com and we will act on it within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days. If you are contacting us from a jurisdiction with its own statutory privacy rights beyond what is described here, tell us and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information you share with us, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our database and email systems. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

This site is intended for homeowners and property decision-makers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page as the site or our tools change. The date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision; changes that meaningfully affect how we use your information will be reflected here before or as they take effect.
